Paul was born in Parramatta and grew up in Smithfield and Fairfield, completing his schooling to Year 10 before commencing a bricklaying apprenticeship. He went on to spend over 35 years in the trade and later completed a Certificate IV in Building and Construction to further develop his expertise.
