realestate.com.au. Independent building

on listings Australians are already searching.
What this means for you
Our portal integration works differently depending on which side of the transaction you’re on.
Your report keeps working after you've read it
Order an independent report on the property you found, from a vetted inspector on our panel. On eligible listings your report is then offered to every other buyer who hits 'Purchase the report' on that realestate.com.au listing – and each time one of them buys it, you get cashback. The more interest in the property, the more comes back to you.
Have a report ready before the first inspection
An upfront report on your listing captures serious buyers the moment they're interested, instead of losing them to a two-week wait for their own inspection. It also means you and your agent know about any issues before a buyer uses them at the negotiating table. No surprises, no last-minute price chipping.
Buyers now expect it
Reports on listings are fast becoming a buyer expectation, not a bonus. Your vendors are already investing heavily in their realestate.com.au campaign – a report ready to go on that ad captures the interested buyer immediately, before they go looking elsewhere. And every buyer who downloads it becomes a qualified lead in your pipeline.
Be seen where the buyers are, at no cost to you
Your reports are distributed on Australia's biggest property portal without you spending a cent on advertising. No Google Ads, no bidding on your own name. Talk to us about moving up the marketplace rankings and reselling your reports directly onto the portals.

Look for ‘Purchase the report’ on the listing
Realestate.com.au is Australia’s most-visited property portal. On listings where a report is available, you’ll see a ‘Purchase the report’ button – tap it and you’ll land straight on the Before You Buy page for that exact property, with the reports available on it and the price shown upfront. No re-typing the address, no starting your research again.
Every report is completed by a vetted, insured professional from our panel of 600+ independent inspectors. We don’t do the inspections ourselves, which is exactly the point – you get an independent opinion, not the seller's.
How it works for buyers
Three steps, from listing to report.
Hit 'Purchase the report' on the listing
Or search the address here – either way you land on the Before You Buy page for that individual property.
Choose your report
Building and pest, strata, contract review or a combination.
Get it back fast
Your report is completed by an independent inspector on our panel and delivered to your account, or if already purchased you can download instantly.
What’s available on a property depends on how the seller has set up their listing. Search the address to see your options.
Order reportThe only marketplace where a report can pay you back
Property reports have always been a sunk cost. You pay for an inspection, you miss out at auction, and the report goes in the bin – while the next buyer pays for the same inspection all over again.
Before You Buy is the only marketplace offering a cashback model across Australia’s major property portals. That distribution is the point. On eligible properties, every other buyer who hits ‘Purchase the Report’ on that listing lands on your report – and each time one of them buys it, you get money back, up to four times.
A report on a quiet listing is a cost. A report on a busy realestate.com.au listing can pay for itself.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Contact BYB todayWhat does a report cost?
Pricing is fixed and shown upfront before you order – no quotes, no callbacks. The exact price depends on the report type or service type and the property, so search the address and you’ll see the price for every report available on that listing before you commit to anything.
Why is a report free or discounted on some listings?
On some listings, the seller or their agent has arranged reports upfront and covered some or all of the cost, so serious buyers can get straight to the information. If you see a free or discounted report on a listing, it was completed by the same panel of independent inspectors as every other report on Before You Buy – the only difference is who paid for it.
Can I order a report on any property?
Not every property, no. What’s available depends on how the seller has set up their listing – on some listings you can order instantly, on others reports are arranged through the sales agent. Search the address to see your options for that property. If nothing’s available, get in touch and we’ll see what we can arrange.
How does cashback work, and when do I get it?
On eligible listings, the report you’ve bought is offered to every other buyer who hits Buy inspection report on that realestate.com.au listing. Each time one of them buys it, you get money back – up to three times. You’ll see whether cashback applies to a listing before you order, and we’ll notify you each time your report is repurchased.
What happens to my report after I’ve read it?
It stays in your account – you can re-read, download and share it with your solicitor or lender whenever you need to. On eligible listings, it’s also made available to other interested buyers on that property’s realestate.com.au listing, which is what makes cashback possible. Your report keeps working after you’ve read it.
Will my name be on the report other buyers see?
No. The report is about the property, not about you – other buyers see the inspector’s findings, not who ordered it. Your details are never shared with subsequent purchasers.
Who writes the report?
Every report is completed by a vetted, insured, independent professional from our panel of 600+ inspectors. Before You Buy doesn’t do the inspections ourselves, which is exactly the point – you get an independent opinion, not the seller’s.
Does the seller or agent see my report?
If the seller arranged the report upfront, they and their agent already have it – that’s disclosed on the listing. If you ordered the report yourself, the findings are yours; the agent may be notified that a report was purchased on their listing, but the report itself isn’t handed over.
Can I still use the report if I don’t buy the property?
Yes. The report is yours regardless of what happens with the sale – and missing out doesn’t cancel your cashback. If the listing was eligible, your report keeps earning each time another buyer purchases it, even after you’ve moved on to the next property.
